VBS BLUES PARTY AND JAM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 3 PM
Join Vermont Blues Society for an afternoon of music and merriment on Sunday, September 22 beginning at 3:00 at Red Square in Burlington.
3-4 pm Dave Keller Trio
4-4:30 pm light food and refreshment
4:30-6:00 pm VBS Blues Jam featuring the Nobby Reed Band- all players welcome!
7-11pm Rye Dog & Friends
The Dave Keller Trio will kick off the festivities, followed by a jam hosted by the Nobby Reed Band. The music continues into the night with Rye Dog taking the stage from 7-11 pm.
All blues musicians are invited to bring their instruments and sign-up for a spot in the jam. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served. If weather permits the music will be held outside, inside if not. Rain or shine!

Doug Whynott To Represent Vermont at International Blues Challenge
The Vermont Blues Society is pleased to announce that Douglas Whynott will be representing Vermont in the solo/duo category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, to be held January 7 - 11th. Doug is a specialist at boogie-woogie style piano and features the creations of Sammy Price, a legendary blues pianist and house musician for Decca records in the early days of blues recordings. We hope to be able to feature Doug’s stylings in a Vermont setting later this year - stay tuned.
Discover Jazz Festival Joe Moore Tribute Was A Big Success!
There was a great artist lineup, a big audience turnout and a lot of love expressed for Joe Moore at the Joe Moore tribute on June 9. Thanks to Discover Jazz, The Flynn and everyone else involved for making this such a big success.
Harmonica Ace Jason Ricci Performed At Main Street Landing April 3
Following the tragic death of his drummer John Peter Perkins mid-tour, award-winning jazz, funk and blues harmonica player, singer and songwriter Jason Ricci decided to meet his commitment to perform at the VBS-sponsored concert at Main Street Landing on April 3rd, backed by the band of award-winning blues pianist Anthony Geraci. We are grateful for Jason's decision as well as Anthony's support, as it was a great show. Our sincere condolences to Jason and the friends and family of John Peter Perkins.

Special Annual Meeting, Film Showing And Concert Dec. 14 Was A Great Success!
Thanks To All Who Attended!
After the Annual VBS meeting on December 14 the Vermont Blues Society, in partnership with Reel Blues Fest and Main Street Landing, presented a new award winning documentary film “Bonnie Blue: James Cotton’s Life In The Blues”, about the life of James Cotton, an icon of Chicago blues who was one of the first blues musicians to cross over and become a familiar sight on rock ‘n’ roll stages. Following the film there was a live music show led by internationally known blues musician and film producer James Montgomery, and included Vermont’s own rising star blues singer/guitarist Dave Keller and Chad Hollister.
The event was a huge success and we thank all who attended. Photos of the event will be posted here soon.

The Board Bids A Fond Farewell to Dennis Willmott
VBS co-founder Dennis Willmott has decided the time is right for him to step down from the Board. We all owe Dennis a huge debt of gratitude for his service to the blues community, and we are grateful he will continue to be involved in keeping the blues alive and well in Vermont.
